Joseph Russo
About
Joseph Russo is a New York City employment attorney at Phillips & Associates and an advocate for employees wronged by their employers. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Mr. Russo received his Juris Doctor from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, graduating cum laude. In law school, he was a Senior Associate for the Pace International Law Review and competed in multiple national mock trial competitions.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Russo was an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the New York City Law Department in the Special Federal Litigation Division. There, he resolved numerous federal actions and tried several cases to verdict. He has extensive experience appearing in both the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York through all phases of discovery, motion practice, and trial. For his outstanding performance at the NYC Law Department, he was awarded the Division Chief Award.
Previously, Mr. Russo worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Bronx County District Attorney's Office. There, he was assigned to both the Investigations Division and the Human Trafficking Unit. He handled complex violent felony matters from initial investigation, through Grand Jury presentations, to motions, hearings, and trial.
Outside of work, Mr. Russo trains regularly for boxing. He also dedicates his time to coaching the law student mock trial teams at his alma mater.
