About

As a passionate advocate for employee rights, Alexander Zugaro focuses his practice on representing individuals who have experienced discrimination, harassment, or retaliation in the workplace. Based in New York City, Alex fights on behalf of employees facing mistreatment based on their sex, race, gender, age, religion, pregnancy, or other protected characteristics under Title VII, Section 1981, the FMLA, ADEA, the New York State Human Rights Law, and the New York City Human Rights Law. He is dedicated to holding employers accountable for unlawful behavior and helping his clients secure the justice and compensation they deserve.

Recognized for his success, Alex has been granted membership to both the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum—membership reserved for attorneys who have secured seven-figure recoveries for their clients. He has obtained millions of dollars in settlements through pre-suit negotiations, mediations, and litigation.

Some of his notable results include:

  • $1,150,000 settlement on behalf of an executive assistant involving allegations of sexual harassment against a C-Suite executive for a global Fortune 500 Company.
  • $475,000 settlement on behalf of a New York City employee involving allegations of quid pro quo sexual harassment by her direct manager.
  • Some of his other notable results include a $180,000 settlement on behalf of an employee of an incorporated village located on Long Island involving allegations of racial discrimination and a retaliatory termination following his complaints, $180,000 settlement on behalf of a sales agent who was relentlessly sexually harassed by his male manager leading to his constructive discharge from the company, and $162,500 on behalf of an employee of a private grade school in New York City who experienced egregious discrimination based on her race, national origin and pregnancy from the Principal.

Alex is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. If you believe you may have been discriminated against on the job, you should call Mr. Zugaro, along with the other knowledgeable New York City employment discrimination attorneys of Phillips & Associates to find out whether you have grounds to sue your employer.

Prior to joining Phillips & Associates, Alex became an experienced and skillful trial lawyer while working as an Assistant District Attorney for the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office from 2015 – 2018. He tried numerous cases to verdict; he handled both jury and non-jury trials and prosecuted more than 350 cases from inception through grand jury presentation, motion practice, hearings, trial, and disposition and presented felony cases to Grand Juries for indictment.

Thereafter, Alex served as an associate attorney with the insurance fraud practice group of a New York law firm. In this role, Alex investigated and prosecuted many medical providers on behalf of major global insurance companies.
